Happy Halloween

It's Friday and it's Halloween and I think it's time for Rainbow Brite to come out of the closet again, just like last year. Tonight Rainbow Brite is going to a party with the Devil. I know, it's shocking.

Editor's Note: I took some pictures but not many.

Fear

I just drank two of my roommate's beers without asking. I've had a rough day. I worked. Too much. I came home, and the apartment was totally dark. This is normal when my roommates aren't home. I walked into the kitchen. I noticed that the door that leads out onto the deck was wide open. This was not normal. It was cold outside and dark. Nobody was home. Why would the door be open? I closed and locked it. I called Zaina. She didn't answer. I locked myself in my room and called Joe. I asked him if he knew why the door was wide open. He didn't. He asked if anything in the house was missing. I said that I didn't know. He asked if there was anybody in the house. I said that I didn't know and that I was too afraid to look everywhere. He told me that if I didn't feel comfortable, perhaps I should leave the house. I did. I got the hell out of there and into my car and started driving around aimlessly. At one point, I made a left turn onto a one way street, GOING THE WRONG WAY. Luckily there were no cars, so I was able to turn around without pissing too many people off. After a while, Zaina called me. I agreed to pick her up where she was so that we could go home and face any potential trouble together. Right before I got to Zaina, Joe called me from home. He said "I'm at the apartment. It's all clear." Of course it was.

Blog of note

One of my favorite Flash bloggers is listed in the Blogs of Note section on the Blogger home page. Yay Peter! I don't think I have ever seen a Flash blog listed there.

Hooping at Lake Goose Poop

Yesterday we hooped at Lake Goose Poop, um, I mean, Lake Merritt. Pictures are available, most of them courtesy of Cheyenne.

The helmet

My roommate Joe has a new helmet. It's a fabulous helmet with a visor that slides down, ear cushions, a strap and a red star. Where did he get it? He won't tell us. All we know is that...

Joe,

my other roommate Zaina,

and I all love this helmet very much.

Please let it be over

I am wearing my lucky underwear because something very important is happening at work today, and I want it to go over well. If it doesn't, I might have to work all weekend. And if you're wondering why I haven't been blogging much, try asking me if I have been working late every single day of this week.

GalaxyGoo Happy Hour

If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area and you love Flash, come to the GalaxyGoo Happy Hour this Monday, October 27. Kristin Henry and I and whoever else is interested will be meeting at Bliss Bar at 6pm. Join us for a happy hour or three of drinks and Flash talk, a blissful combination if I ever saw one.

Sunsets

We have seen the most beautiful sunsets in San Francisco this weekend. Here is a picture I took on Saturday, and here is one Philo took yesterday.

Comp time

My travel plans are starting to solidify. Today I booked a flight to Europe for December. I know I said that I was going on a road trip to the Northwest. And I am still planning on doing that as well, just not for as long. I might have to skip out on Canada and make Seattle the Northernmost destination. But yes, sometime in mid-to-late November I am planning on driving up to Seattle for a couple of days to hang out with my good old friend Brent, with Ariel, and with Jessica, one of my favorite Flash developers I have yet to meet.

Then in early-to-mid December, I am off to Europe for the second time this year. I am going to hang with my family for a few days, then take a train to Marseille to attend a Flash conference, then back to Germany for a couple of more days. I am very excited to meet some European Flashers at the conference. Comp time rules.

Ebay Audi

Today I rode in my coworker Juraj's car for the first time. It's a teal green '99 Audi stationwagon. Very cool car. He got it on Ebay.

Why does it always rain on me?

Last night I dreamt that I was walking on a sidewalk when suddenly I was being puked on from a window on the third floor. I was wearing one of my favorite shirts.

The view from my street

The view from my street

Sometimes, when I get into my car in the morning on my way to work, I see downtown San Francisco in the most beautiful morning light, and it is then that I am reminded how lucky I am about everything right now. And how happy. And I get so thankful for living in this beautiful neighborhood in this enriching city and for having a career that I am passionate about and for all of my blogger friends and my hooper friends and my Flasher friends and for my beetle who is back from the hospital.

It's great to be 27 and single and in San Francisco. You should try it sometime.

Lumafest

This afternoon I went to Lumafest. LUMA = Local Urban Music and Arts. It was outdoors in the middle of an intersection of two alleys in South of Market. I brought my hoops and ran into several other hoopers. I also ran into several other friends. The music was great. Amber played and once again she played my favorite song. I think she told me once that it was a Sasha song. It's beautiful. Then Ms. E played. She is one of my favorites, and I'm sad that she will be moving to Los Angeles soon. But I'm glad I got to see her play today because it might be the last time.

Ms. E

And now I'm waiting for the very young boy to come over.

Editor's Note: Tantek posted a bunch of more pictures from Lumafest.

Friends & lovers

When my ex-boyfriend and I were still boyfriend and girlfriend, we used to do this thing at the movie theater. After every preview, we would look at each other and either say "Dice" or "No dice." We usually agreed.

While my sister was here, he and I took her to the movies one night. Without even thinking about it, we fell into our old ritual of Dice and No dice.

This is why you should always stay friends with your exes.

Did you know that the Love Parade is coming to San Francisco? Last night I talked to one of the guys who is making it happen. It's happening next fall!

Road Tripper

Right after Burning Man, my friend Justin was fired from his job and dumped by his girlfriend on the same day. Shortly thereafter he took off on a road trip across the U.S. and hasn't returned. You can read all the stories from his road trip starting with Day 1 here. It makes me jealous. I love road trips.

Since I have worked on the weekends quite a bit this summer, I have some comp time to use up within the next month or so. I'm thinking about going on my own trip. Just the beetle and I. I would love to drive north to Oregon and Washington and Canada. I have never been north of Marin County, and I think it's about time.

Nature

Remember when I took pictures of the beautiful dahlias in Golden Gate Park last year? This weekend my sister and I went back for more. The weather wasn't as nice but the flowers were just as beautiful. When we were done taking pictures, we drove to Muir Woods and marveled at the trees.
